Kitchen Gel Baiting & Residual Spray — Restoran Near Atria Shopping Gallery, Damansara Jaya
Advion gel bait application in kitchen prep area — restaurant near Atria Shopping Gallery, Damansara Jaya
The Problem
The restaurant owner received a health inspection notice flagging cockroach activity in the kitchen prep area and dry storage room. Located in a busy shophouse row near Atria Shopping Gallery in Damansara Jaya, the restaurant had been dealing with occasional cockroach sightings for months but hadn't addressed the root cause.
The inspection report specifically noted live German cockroaches (Blattella germanica) behind the dishwashing station, inside electrical panel boxes, and in cardboard storage areas. With a follow-up inspection scheduled in 3 weeks, the owner needed fast, effective treatment — and documentation to prove it. They reached out to Sprint Pest Control Petaling Jaya for an urgent assessment.
Our Assessment
Our technician visited the restaurant after closing hours to conduct a full assessment without disrupting operations. Using a flushing agent and torch inspection, we identified several hotspots:
- Heavy infestation behind the commercial dishwasher — warm, moist environment ideal for breeding
- Egg casings (oothecae) found inside electrical panel box covers near the kitchen
- Moderate activity in the dry storage room, particularly around cardboard boxes stacked against the wall
- Drain covers in the kitchen floor showing signs of cockroach traffic (grease trails)
German cockroaches are notoriously difficult to eliminate because they breed rapidly and hide in tight spaces. We recommended a combined approach: Advion gel baiting for precision targeting, residual spray for drains and floor areas, and crack-and-crevice treatment for harbourage points. We also advised on how to prevent cockroach problems in commercial kitchens.
Treatment Process
Step 1 — Deep Cleaning Advisory
Before treatment, we provided the kitchen team with a targeted cleaning checklist: remove all cardboard from storage, clean grease buildup behind equipment, and seal food containers. This maximises bait effectiveness.
Step 2 — First Treatment: Gel Baiting + Residual Spray
Applied Advion cockroach gel bait in precise dots behind the dishwasher, inside electrical boxes, under prep counters, and along pipe runs. Applied residual spray to all floor drains and the storage room perimeter. Crack-and-crevice treatment along skirting boards and wall joints.
Step 3 — 7-Day Follow-Up Inspection
Returned after one week to assess bait consumption and remaining activity. Found significant reduction — approximately 80% decrease in live cockroach sightings. Refreshed gel bait at high-consumption points.
Step 4 — Second Treatment Session
Applied fresh gel bait to remaining active areas and performed a second residual spray focusing on the storage room and any new harbourage points identified. Installed sticky monitoring traps at 6 key locations.
Step 5 — Monthly Maintenance Contract
Set up ongoing monthly visits for monitoring trap checks, fresh gel bait application, and cockroach control maintenance to ensure compliance with health standards year-round.
The Result
The restaurant passed its follow-up health inspection with zero cockroach activity noted. The health officer commended the restaurant for taking swift corrective action. The monthly maintenance contract ensures any early signs of reinfestation are caught and addressed before they become a problem.
